bubbytree“What is ‘BubbyLaLa’?” you might be asking. It’s a long story…

It all started with the whole retro-future vision from the 50s and 60s of a city, a house, or even a single tree encased in a bubble of atmosphere floating out in the wilds of space, barely separated from the harsh realities of the cold vacuum except for a thin bubble of some futuristic material, clear and fragile-looking.

I saw one of these little “bubble-trees” on a tv ad on the Discovery Channel or something one day and I love that whole idea. So I commented to Sean that I wanted one; I wanted a bubble-tree floating out in space with its own little force-shield. He laughed and said he’d get me a “bubby tree”. I laughed so hard I teared up. From that day on, the word “bubby” was in our lexicon.

The ‘la la’ came later. I used to love watching Daria on MTV way back when they still played music on that TV channel, and I loved her little “la la la la” theme song, so I’d sing it around the house once in a while. Sean got a kick out of it since it was so silly, and then one day Sean was listening to a song on the radio and it was “La La Means I Love you” by the Delfonics. It sort of clicked in his head with my Daria theme song and he said that I was saying “I love you” when I did it.

Somehow all of that solidified into BubbyLaLa when Sean was doing random web domain-name availability searches. (I know, I know… he’s a total dork). I laughed when he said it was available and next thing you know we have www.bubbylala.com, go figure.

It’s just our little personal site, so sit back and enjoy. See you soon.
